How we started
Wheels for Good began in the heart of Kansas City when a group of concerned neighbors realized that many families were unaware of the local benefits available to them. Despite qualifying for assistance programs like SNAP and MO HealthNet, too many were struggling in silence. Seeing this gap, our founders envisioned a solution that would connect these families with the resources they desperately needed.
Through conversations at local coffee shops and community centers, the idea for Wheels for Good was born: a vehicle donation program that would not only help those with cars they no longer needed but would also fund a dedicated benefits-research service. By offering an easy, impactful way to give back, we could directly empower our neighbors to access the help they deserve.
Our mission
At Wheels for Good, our mission is to bridge the gap between eligible families in Kansas City and the resources they need to thrive. Through our vehicle donation program, we fund a free benefits-research service that connects residents with essential assistance programs such as TANF, WIC, LIHEAP, and MO HealthNet. We believe that every person deserves the chance to live a healthy, fulfilling life, and our work is driven by the passion to make these vital resources accessible to all.

Why this city
Kansas City is home to a diverse population, with neighborhoods like the 18th & Vine District and the East Side representing a rich tapestry of cultures and experiences. Yet, many of our residents face barriers to accessing critical benefits. Recent studies have shown enrollment gaps, particularly among families in our metro who qualify for programs like WIC and LIHEAP. By focusing our efforts locally, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors by ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive.
